Grant Funding Success
Grant Funding Success
Inspired by the amazing performances by the British team at the Paris Olympics, we’re really pleased to let you know that we have been awarded another grant to support the amazing work that we do in Moss Side and south central Manchester.
This time, the funds have been awarded from the Recycle for Greater Manchester Community Fund. The fund is a partnership between Recycle for Greater Manchester (R4GM) and water, waste and resource management giant, Suez, which takes the money raised from the Renew shops and online sales and puts it back into local projects that support recycling, reuse and waste reduction.
We will use the sizeable four figure sum to continue to improve the Manchester environment, offer discounted bike repair services, engage young people in workshops and develop deeper community connections through a monthly bike repair café at our Boiler House base.
In addition, the project will provide skills development through a unique educational resource which will feature recycling of e-bike batteries and motors.
“These funds will help us create environmental and financial sustainability, encourage members of the local community to develop skills and help to further the knowledge of our staff and volunteers in maintaining, repairing and recycling of ebikes and ebike batteries.” Said Stefan Hopewell, Director of Manchester Cycling Academy CIC.
“The repair cafe will see us partner up with our hosts, Sow the City at our base at the Boiler House to extend the repair cafe that they stage each month. This will be an opportunity for our amazing volunteers to hone their bike maintenance skills and for anyone from the local community to come down to get their bike mended for free”. He added.
“We’re already ahead of where we planned to be for 2024 which is amazing news and this award will set us up for a massive last third of the year. “2025 is looking really exciting too as we have more innovation planned, so everyone involved with Manchester Cycling Academy should be very pleased with progress so far”. said Stef.
